Road Trip 2, Day -1 (negative one)

It's been a glorious "going away." I'm sure at times it has felt like the Judd's Farewell tour (which went on for 4 years), but the last few weeks leading up to us actually leaving has been bittersweet... Thank you to all who have called or sent lovely email farewells. And our thanks to those of you who we managed to see for an evening or an hour or a moment before we left town. Our apologies to all of you who tried to see... we just couldn't break free of the chaos that is moving. We'll see you when we come back to town and regale you with stories of our new life and digs.

While our last fortnight in Burbank was chock full of sorting and packing, stresses and confusions, heavy lifting and headaches, dentist/doctor/hair/tax appointments, (and thankfully Tums, bourbon and valium)... these weeks were also full of BBQs, brunches, gourmet ninja grilling, statue painting...

(Well, just this one. This is Peas&Carrots who lives at the Silver Spur barn near us on Riverside. He used to be one of an identical pair: Peas and Carrots. One died. They didn't know which one. Thus... Peas&Carrots. Maeve and Nancylee rescued Peas&Carrots from Riverside Drive. He went AWOL.)

Here's a tired, sweaty, mismatched grateful toast to our troops!

This entry is long but so were the days and nights, the sighs and goodbyes...
And it's gonna be a long time before Matt & Mandy get over the humiliation of the knobby hat.

And we're off...
